I’ve been putting off a little project… that is, until today – and the result is less than thrilling.
We have a cabinet thingy in our bathroom and it’s seen better times. The paint is starting to chip and the accumulation of hairspray and other chemicals was taking it’s toll.
So, I got the great idea to repaint it, but not just repaint it, to do a CRACKLATURE paint job…
As you can see in the pictures, it didn’t quite come out the way I was expecting it to. Now, it’s not completely dried yet, but I have a feeling that I’m going to be stripping this down and repainting it… UGH, just what I needed MORE work :(.
Anyone know how to fix this mess????
I think maybe you should have painted it a darker color first. Then apply the crackle medium and then paint it white ontop of that. Then the dark areas would have come through through the cracks. I did the crackle thing a few times and each time it worked pretty good. It looks like you have some globbing problems too. What’s that all about? Nothing is less fun than redoing a project that you already did once. Sorry cuz. That’s a bummer.
After all was said and done, it actually doesn’t look horrible… I do have some clumping, but it’s something we decided we could life with… I might give it a light sanding and then a coat of urethane – OR I’ll just leave it as-is :).
