I decided to start putting my routines up here and keeping track of them in hopes of keeping it up and making my goal of doing a 75 mile ride in May of this year.
One thing I can tell you is that this little ride today was alot harder than I thought it was going to be. I was actually going to try to do 15 miles today, but once I completed the 7.13 miles, I decided it wasn’t such a good idea to push myself the first time out.
I really had to work my arse off to get to the 7 mile mark before my 30 minute deadline. I just passed the finish line at 29:59 – 7.00 miles.
So, doing that math, it will take me a little over 5 hours to complete a 75 mile run. That is if I keep a constant 14MPH and don’t stop or die in the process.
I totally forgot how much my BUTT hurts after riding for even a measly 1/2 hour! I definately need to get a pair of riding pants STAT!
I used to do a good 10 miles a day, back a good ten years ago. Alot of time has passed since then and I need to do alot more training to get back to doing that much. I’m sure it’ll get easier.
Of course, the training course I took “Apple Grinder” had alot of hills in it – ALOT OKAY? So, that slowed me down a bit, but I was encouraged that I finished the 7-mile ride 1:40 ahead of the pacer.
More to follow!
Believe me Cuz, it’s MUCH easier on the real pavement. You’ll do fine. And your butt will be conditioned from all your indoor training. But real riding shorts are a must. Try http://www.nashbar.com or http://www.performance.com for some great deals.
